Ditch the Kick: The Complete Guide to the Fisch Moto Yamaha YZ250 & YZ250X Electric Starter

If you ride hard enduro, you already know the scenario: you're halfway up a nasty, off-camber root section, your heart rate is maxed out, and you stall. Trying to find your footing to kickstart your bike in that terrain is exhausting.

Here at Fisch Moto, we wanted to solve this problem once and for all. We’ve designed a clean, reliable, and straightforward push-button solution for your 2-stroke. Our Yamaha YZ250 & YZ250X E-Starter Kit is engineered to keep you moving forward when the trail gets tough.

Why Choose the Fisch Moto YZ250/YZ250X E-Starter?

We engineered this kit to be the ultimate bolt-on upgrade. Adding only about 9.6 lbs. to your bike (including the battery!).

Our system features a rugged housing CNC-machined from 6061 Billet Aluminum to withstand serious trail abuse. We also integrated a vent hose in the housing to equalize pressure and manage moisture, ensuring reliable operation no matter how deep into the woods you go.

The Flywheel Effect: Smooth Power Delivery

One of the most common questions we get is about flywheel compatibility. Our E-Starter requires your stock OEM Yamaha flywheel and does NOT work with aftermarket flywheel weights.

Why? Because it doesn't need to! Our bolt-on gear assembly mounts directly to your OEM flywheel. Once installed, this assembly inherently acts like a weighted flywheel, smoothing out your 2-stroke's power delivery and making it incredibly tractable in technical terrain. (In fact, we have a handy comparison chart available showing exactly how our setup compares to the most popular aftermarket flywheel weights on the market). Furthermore, by utilizing your factory flywheel, we ensure that your original ignition timing and engine crispness remain perfectly intact.

The Battery Setup: Power, Charging, and Accessories

To keep the kit simple, lightweight, and free of complex stators and wiring harnesses, our system is a "total loss" battery system. This means the battery does not charge itself while you ride; you will need to manually charge it between rides.

But don't let that worry you. When paired with our recommended Antigravity AG-801 Lithium Battery (which we also sell), you will easily get around 180 starts on a single charge. For most riders, that is more than enough juice to last an entire weekend of hard enduro racing or trail riding.

Pro-Tips for Battery Management: To make managing your manual-charge system as easy as possible, we highly recommend adding these two accessories to your setup:

  1. OptiMate Battery Status Charge Monitor (SAE Socket): This easily accessible plug-and-play monitor lets you check your battery's life at a glance so you never hit the trail with a dead battery.
  2. OptiMate TM-470 Lithium Charger: When you get home, just plug this purpose-built lithium charger directly into the SAE socket. It safely and efficiently brings your battery back to 100% for your next ride.

Fast, 45-Minute Installation*

We know you’d rather be riding than wrenching. That’s why we made our E-Starter a true bolt-on solution with a quick installation time of just 45 minutes(*plus sealant cure time). You don't need any specialized tools or permanent modifications to your engine cases.

To help you through the process, we’ve put together a step-by-step YouTube install video:

Important Note: While the video is a fantastic visual guide, our PDF installation file is the most up-to-date resource. We highly recommend pulling up the PDF manual on your phone or printing it out to follow along alongside the video for the smoothest installation experience.z
