I ride hard enduro/single track. Having a E-Start in a bad spot comes in prime. Make my life so much easier. After a long day of riding using the E-start every chance I could. The battery lasted all day. Install was a breeze. Fisch for the win.
Got my Estart earlier this year and the experience with FischMoto has been over the top. They are willing to help and respond quickly when you have questions.
That said I had the 10mm bolt come loose that holds on flywheel(I had not used red thread locker) and was able to get bike going at home after an easy oil change and replacement of woodruff key. The estart is really very easy to maintain and its simplicity is nice. Keep an eye on 10mm allen key holding flywheel and gears onto magnito, when changing oil, use red threadlocker, tighten to 45ft/lb and make sure oil breather tube stays unblocked.
I really enjoy the estart as I have gotten older and stiffer. It also is so much quicker stabbing the button vs kicking during a high speed stall. Not having to find a rock or high spot to put under left foot so I can kick it over. I put a ProMoto billet sidestand on to help also. I initially kick it when it is cold as I already had an even lighter 15oz. AG battery that works great once after one 1st kickstart. With a bigger AG801 it wouldn't be necessary.
After a days use I will charge it for about an hour with my Optimate TM471 lithium battery charger and good for another session. I do not know how many starts I can get out of a charge with current battery because I haven't run out yet in one session and it hasn't been a problem yet. If it is you always have your kickstart as a backup.
Changing the oil filter is a breeze too. I just undo the metal battery holder supplied with kit by loosening both bolts and slide battery out of way without having to unhook battey, clean filter and good to go. I trimmed a small portion of fin on the insiide rear fender to make more room. I also bent the shifter out just slightly as it was close to touching the estart case. The cables coming off of starter motor are close to choke but you still have access to it and idle **** but it is a little tight. Should you need to get to float bowl and jets you may need to move or undo a few parts for that.
Yes I am very impressed so far and this has made riding my beloved 22 YZ250 so much better.
this Kit has the Best E-Start Kit in the Market!, It works with my Hydraulic Clutch with no Problem, ( Pantera E-Start DON'T WORK with Hydraulic Clutch!.) the Communication I had with the FISCH People was Awesome @ all the Times!
Thanks Guys!
I have installed the e-start kit on my 2011 YZ250 with 300 big bore kit, the install went exactly according to the instructions, couple of tips: If you install on an older bike like I did, go ahead and remove the flywheel, this lets you get the inside of the flywheel and the stator really clean, also MUCH easier to clean and silicone the wiring grommet with the flywheel off. If you had a flywheel weight, you may have had to bend the clutch actuator tab, be sure to straighten this before installing the e-start.
The starter spins the big bore over instantly even on cold mornings, I tried it on a 15 degree F morning with no issues.
